Rural Civic Addressing

The blue signs appearing at the end of rural driveways in the Municipality of Boissevain-Morton are the new numbering for dwellings and other structures. These numbers have been assigned in accordance with the provincial guidelines for addressing and are tied to the new road naming scheme.

This number is very important, please write your civic address down and place it by your home phone or stored in your cell phone so

in the event of an emergency you can quickly advise the 911 operator of your civic address.

The rural address comprises of a number and a road name, just the same as in any urban community address. The first couple digits of your sign is the road that is South or East of your property and the final three digits is the actual distance in 10’s of meters that your driveway is from the south or east road. In the case of an emergency, dial 911 and give the operator your civic number (located on the blue sign), road number (the road number the approach is accessed off of) and the municipality or community you are located in. Ex. 12345 Road 155, Boissevain-Morton.

The first three digits of the address (118) determines the intersection that you are west of, or you are in Block 118. The last 3 digits determine the distance you are located along the road segment – 930 metres.
